Runeon Privacy Policy
This page is a translation provided for your convenience. If it differs from the English version, the English version applies. This does not affect rights that cannot be waived under the laws where you live.
Overview
Runeon is a macOS app for preparing and running a Runeon-managed Windows Steam container. This policy explains how Runeon handles information in the app, on this website, and in related account, subscription, support, and diagnostics services.
Runeon is operated by a Japan-based sole proprietor doing business as CodeWave Seki Studio. Runeon is local-first by design. Your local compatibility records are not uploaded, and Runeon does not publish a public game compatibility database.
What stays on your Mac
Runeon keeps the core Steam setup on your Mac, including:
- the prepared Steam runtime and Windows Steam container;
- your local Steam library list inside that container;
- local run history and compatibility status;
- local diagnostics drafts until you choose to send one.
Runeon does not read, copy, upload, or proxy your Steam password, Steam tokens, Steam session cookies, chats, friends, purchases, game saves, or screenshots.
Account and subscription data
If you sign in, start a trial, or subscribe, Runeon uses the information needed to run your account and check access:
- your email address and sign-in provider;
- account and device records used for subscription access and the device limit;
- subscription status, plan, trial dates, renewal period, and cancellation state.
Stripe handles payment details. Runeon does not store card numbers, card security codes, or full payment credentials.
How Runeon uses information
Runeon uses information only for product and support purposes:
- to create and secure your Runeon account;
- to check your trial, subscription, and device access;
- to provide billing links, receipts, and subscription support;
- to respond to support requests and optional diagnostics reports;
- to protect Runeon from abuse, fraud, and service misuse;
- to meet legal, tax, accounting, and security obligations.
Where privacy law requires a legal basis, Runeon relies on the need to provide the product you request, your consent for optional diagnostics reports, legitimate interests such as security and support, and legal obligations such as billing records.
Offers and updates
Runeon may use your account email and trial or subscription history to send product updates, offers, and invitations to try Runeon again. We keep invitation, delivery, and unsubscribe records to manage these emails.
You can unsubscribe from promotional emails at any time using the link in each message. Unsubscribing does not affect essential account or billing emails, or access you have already received.
Optional diagnostics reports
Diagnostics upload is optional. If Runeon detects a Steam or game launch problem, the app may prepare a local report draft. You can review it first, cancel it, or send it. Nothing is uploaded until you choose to send that report.
A report may include:
- Runeon, Steam, Wine, and selected game or launcher log excerpts;
- basic device and software details such as Mac model family, macOS version, Runeon version, and runtime version;
- the error category and timing needed to understand what failed.
Runeon redacts usernames, home folder paths, email addresses, account identifiers, token-like values, and other identifiers before upload. Runeon also checks reports on the server to reduce the chance of accidentally accepting secrets or private identifiers.
Diagnostics reports are used for private support and product diagnostics. They are not turned into public game compatibility claims.
Website and service providers
This website does not use advertising trackers such as Google Analytics or Mixpanel. Cloudflare may process basic request, security, and abuse-prevention logs to operate and protect the site and API.
Runeon uses trusted service providers to run the product. When they process personal data on Runeon's behalf, they act on Runeon's instructions under a written data processing agreement. Their roles depend on the processing activity. Stripe also acts as a data controller for purposes such as fraud prevention and compliance with legal obligations, independently determining the purposes and means of that processing.
| Provider | What it does for Runeon | Where it is based |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase, Inc. | Sign-in and account records | United States |
| Stripe Payments Europe, Limited | Payments, subscriptions, invoices, and the customer portal | Ireland |
| Cloudflare, Inc. | Website, API, security controls, and diagnostics storage | United States, on a global network |
| Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc.) | Account and product email | United States |
Stripe Payments Europe, Limited is the Stripe entity that applies to Runeon because the Runeon business is based in Japan.
If you choose Apple or Google sign-in, that provider also handles the sign-in step under its own privacy policy.
Runeon does not sell your personal information or use it for cross-site advertising.
International processing
Runeon is operated from Japan, but the services used to run Runeon may process information in other countries, including the United States, the European Economic Area, and countries where our service providers operate. This can happen when you sign in, subscribe, visit the website, receive email, or send an optional diagnostics report.
Runeon works with established providers that maintain their own security and data-processing commitments. When required, Runeon uses appropriate contractual or provider safeguards for international processing.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to the use of personal information. You may also withdraw consent for optional diagnostics uploads before sending a report.
Runeon does not sell personal information, does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and does not use sensitive personal information for purposes other than providing, securing, supporting, and billing Runeon.
To make a privacy request, contact [email protected]. We may need to verify your account or email address before completing a request. If you are in a region that provides a right to complain to a data protection authority, you may also contact your local authority.
For account deletion and data export, see Support.
Retention
Redacted diagnostics attachments are kept for up to 90 days unless you ask us to delete them sooner or a shorter support path applies. Account, subscription, device, security, and billing records are kept only as long as needed to provide Runeon, prevent abuse, meet legal obligations, and support customers. Some payment records stay with Stripe as required for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, and payment compliance.
In the app, you can:
- create diagnostics reports without sending them;
- cancel before sending a diagnostics report;
- manage or cancel your subscription with Open Stripe Portal in Runeon Settings.
Children
Runeon is not directed to children. It is intended for users old enough to manage their own Steam account, software installation, and payment relationship. If you believe a child provided personal information to Runeon, contact us and we will take appropriate action.
Security and changes
Runeon uses access controls, limited retention, diagnostics redaction, and provider-side security features to protect the information it processes. No online service can be guaranteed completely secure, but Runeon is designed to avoid collecting sensitive Steam account data in the first place.
If this policy changes, Runeon will update this page and the date above. If a change is important for how Runeon handles your information, we will provide notice in the app or by email where appropriate.
